Not much is known directly about the Mass. The creature exists within Transitory Space (The Frequency) and poses a significant threat to Eastern space transit travel. Unlike similar “Mega-Psychofauna,” the Mass is special, it is sentient in some regard.
The Mass or Amino Acid Ocean (A colloquial term by spacers) the creature is an inverted starfish composed of 3 “fat” layers. Like most organisms within Transitory Space, it lacks the physical characteristics that exist in Real Space. The creature itself is nearly 12 miles in size with its acidic bubble stomach being the only physical trait.
This has posed significant risks to traveling spacers due to the creature's unintentional ability to simply “dissolve” ships mid-transit. Similarly to the native earth Sperm Whale, the Mass feeds off simple bag siphonophores in Transit Space. Like most creatures its size it has a herald, its herald is connected to the creature via a large trunk.
On the end of the trunk is a pulsating sack with a leathery face and hand proboscis which is used to talk to other similarly sized creatures. The creature is either unaware of humans or simply ignores us, with it making stimuli whenever it dissolves a traveling spaceship.
